CuSO4′s Tokyo Anime/Manga Shopping Guide

CuSO4′s Tokyo Anime/Manga Shopping Guide

Honestly?  This is THE starting point for Otaku.  Be aware that it is out of date, so try and verify actual locations with the shop’s website or googling the shop name (there are many insane people such as myself that are happy to show you a step by step on how to get to a specific place).  Otherwise, you’ll notice that there are numerous places of interest packed closely together.

Also, be aware that many of these shops are upstairs and downstairs, so don’t expect main floor signage — or signage in English characters either.

Tokyo City Atlas: A Bilingual Guide

by Kodansha International

(ISBN-10: 4770025033)

This is THE BIBLE for travelling around Tokyo and finding anything and everything.   What’s so great about it?

  • Bilingual, so even if you can’t read the Japanese, you can play “match those characters”
  • The first few pages provide you details of the train system — absolutely invaluable and all you really need to navigate the trains
  • The maps themselves show you the block numbers, so if you have an address, the only guess work is finding the building and floor number
